Our Trustees
Sutton Mental Health Foundation is a registered charity. That means we are an organisation whose primary purpose is to create social impact rather than profit. We are registered with the Charity Commission and with Companies House as a charitable company and are governed by charity law.
We have an independent board of directors, also called Trustees, who are volunteers. They are responsible for deciding on strategy and priorities and overseeing the work, management, and finances of the charity on behalf of its beneficiaries. The Board appoints senior management staff who are tasked with the day to day running of the organisation.

I am honoured to be Chair of Sutton Mental Health Foundation. I was brought up in a family where my mother had a bipolar diagnosis, and was frequently in and out of hospital, so I know very well the impact mental illness can have. This motivates me to want to support the delivery of good, innovative services to support those facing mental health problems.
My professional background is as an HR Director for 40 years with experience of working in charities and organisations such as Richmond Fellowship, Equinox, Westminster Social Services and as a Board member at London Probation. For 30 years I was Trustee and then Corporate Services Director at The Change Foundation, a charity which uses sport to change the lives of marginalised young people. These roles gave me a good insight into charity finance, governance and fundraising.
As Chair, I will lead the Trustee Board to ensure that SMHF is well governed and continues to develop and deliver its services to support the people of Sutton. We will seek to secure more income from fundraising activities. We are looking to reach and support more young adults with mental health problems.
