Become a supporter of Sutton Mental Health Foundation
Donations from local people are vital to the work we do, and enable us to develop new services for the whole community. If you are able to support us, there are lots of ways you can do this:
To make a one-off or monthly donation you can visit our Just Giving page, or the Charities Aid Foundation. If you are a UK taxpayer, please consider Gift Aiding your donation (Gift Aid is a scheme whereby the government will add the 20% income tax you paid to the donation - at no extra cost to you)
Payroll Giving schemes are a tax-efficient way for employees to donate to charity. Sometimes referred to as Give As You Earn (when operated through Charities Aid Foundation) or Workplace Giving, this benefit allows employees to make donations to chosen charities directly from their salary before tax is calculated, which ensures that charities receive more while the employee pays less. Schemes have to be set up by your employer, so why not ask if your workplace is part of one, or ask them to join? SMHF is currently registered with the Charities Aid Foundation and Benevity.
Legacy Giving is a meaningful way to show your support for our work and leave behind a gift that will help others in the future. It can also reduce inheritance tax claims on your estate. A gift to a small charity like Sutton Mental Health Foundation will make a real difference to our work after you have gone, and you can be sure will be of direct benefit to people in Sutton experiencing mental illness. Speak to your solicitor if this is something you would like to do.
Memorial Gifts - when a loved one dies it is always a sad and difficult time, and holding a collection in their memory can be very comforting and significant for those left behind. There are various platforms for memorial giving, or you can set up a page on our Just Giving site. You funeral director should be able to give advice on this, or see our information on setting up a Just Giving page below.
Corporate Giving - We welcome support from corporations and companies, and we are always pleased to work with fundraising teams. Fundraising for SMHF is also a good opportunity for companies to talk to staff about their mental health and start to breakdown the stigma that sometimes stops people from reaching out - either to offer help, or to seek it. It is great to get staff fundraising for us - but please don't forget, a promise of matched funding from the company can give a real boost to everyone!
Fundraising - We are always humbled and delighted when anyone decides to fundraise for Sutton Mental Health Foundation - whether it is running, walking, a raffle or a bake sale! Below are some ideas, tips and places we are already registered. Please let up know if you are planning something, and we will do our best to share your social media or offer other support if we can.
All gifts, however given, large or small, are much appreciated, thank you
