Life can be very challenging for young people, and mental health struggles are increasingly common. Pressures from school, social media, relationships, identity, and the future can feel overwhelming — and it’s not always easy to know where to turn. This page brings together support available across Sutton for young people who are finding things difficult. Whether it is someone to talk to, help managing anxiety or low mood, or support with more complex issues, there are services here that are free, confidential, and designed with young people in mind.

If you want to talk about what’s going on for you and work through your thoughts and feelings, you can contact Off the Record to speak directly to a mental health practitioner who will listen to you, offer emotional support and can give you information about our services or signpost you to services that might be relevant to you.

Self-care is about the things we can do to look after our own mental health. Anna Freud has a self-care hub with a range of techniques for you to try, including colour therapy, mindfulness, light therapy and meditation.

HOPELINE247 is a helpline for young people experiencing thoughts of suicide. Their advisers will work with you to understand why thoughts of suicide might be present. They also want to provide you with a safe space to talk through anything happening in your life that could be impacting on your or anyone else’s ability to stay safe.
Our advisers are all trained to help you focus on staying safe from suicide. Their training enables them to provide advice and support that may help you to move forward and stay alive.

Papyrus is a charity specialising in the prevention of young suicide. From coping techniques to conversation starters, distraction techniques and dealing with anxiety, they have a broad range of help and advice resources for you to access, including advice and information on self harm.

This service is for children and young people up to the age of 18 registered with a Sutton GP, their families and/or carers across the borough. CAMHS Team members include child and adolescent psychiatrists, social workers, clinical psychologists, community psychiatric nurses, child psychotherapists, occupational therapists and other therapists.
Referrals can be made by GP's, other healthcare professionals, schools, and others via the single point of reference.

Alumina is an online course started by selfharm.co.uk for young people aged between 10 & 17. It doesn't matter how long you've been self-harming or what it means to you, Alumina is an opportunity to think more about it and work out what your next step might be.

ChildLine offers information, advice and confidential counselling to anyone aged 18 and under on any issue affecting them.
Their phoneline is open all day every day by calling on 0800 1111, or you can go to www.childline.org.uk to access their webchat service. They also have a message board for young people on their website.
Practical suicide prevention for every situation
The C.A.R.E. Kit is made up of three modules to help you support young people - from introducing the topic of mental health through to what to do in a crisis.
Each module contains four vital actions that can help prevent suicide: Check-in, Ask, Remain close and Expert help

We offer a freshly cooked meal (which varies daily), at a very reasonable cost. A vegetarian option is always available. We also offer tea, coffee, squash and snacks.
On fridays we serve fish or sausages with chips. Lunches need to be ordered before 11:30am and can be placed over the telephone as well as in person.
Sunday's member-led session offers a set cooked breakfast which must be ordered before 1:00pm.

We provide a selection of board games such as bingo, scrabble, chess and draughts. For the more sporty we also have a snooker table and a table tennis table.
There is no obligation to participate in any activities, if you prefer to just sit quietly and take a moment for yourself, a variety of newspapers are available on a daily basis.
